... giving Ianto the key to Jack's happiness since 2009
RTD vs The Fans - aka me amusing myself ....
30th-Jul-2009 04:16 pm
This is something I was writing in reply to a comment by candi_apple_red, but it got a bit out of hand ... [and, really, I just amused myself ...]

I finally forced myself to watch day 5 of COE today so I was in desperate need of fluff (because WTF kind of depressing crap WAS that??).

RTD What are you talking about? COE was a fantastic story!

US: Err ... no it wasn't. The final two episodes were the most depressing two hours of television since Princess Diana's funeral.

RTD: Then you clearly don't know what good drama is.

US: Yeah. Because hundreds of thousands of fans must definitely be wrong when judging what makes good telly. And it was more than obvious that the over-emotional bombardment that was Days 4 and 5 just distracted from the fact there were so many plot holes it was like a Rift through the script.

RTD: You don't know what you're talking about. You only watched Torchwood because of the pretty boys.

US: I admit, I watched the first episode of Torchwood because of John Barrowman, but I remained with the series because of the diversity of characters, scenarios and story lines - particulalry because of the interesting dynamics between the team and the open normalcy in the way Jack and Ianto's relationship was portrayed.

RTD: Get over it. At least we've still go our beloved Gwen, who I can assure you is the heart of Torchwood.

US: Heart of Torchwood? She came in, she told everyone what to do, she whined, she disobeyed and she caused an awful lot of deaths. She also committed adultery and drugged her boyfriend. I can't really call her the 'heart' of anything, let alone identify with her.

RTD: You're just bitter about Ianto. Why won't you accept he had to die?

US: Because he's not real; he's a fictional construct. Therefore anything that happens to him is your doing - so nothing had to happen - and it's your sadistic mind that makes you think it was 'a no-brainer' to kill him. Clearly, though, there was no point of him going to that building other than to die - you could have given him a less " err ... well .... we need to kill him so lets just randomly shove him this situation where he isn't otherwise needed" death.

RTD: The stakes were too high in that situation. He had to be killed to keep it real.

US: As much as I want certain aspects of reality to be reflected in Science FICTION, there a elements of it that don't have to be included. Oh, and the politician-bashing went wayyyyyyyy over the top.
US: Might we also point out: YOU HAD A THREE-HEADED ALIEN IN A TANK FULL OF POISONOUS GASES GETTING HIGH OFF A KID AND YOU HAD TO KILL THE MOST BELOVED CHARACTER TO KEEP IT REAL? ..... did you have a bet on with Joss Whedon or something? Who can kill off the popular, faithful and loving homosexual pairing in the stupidest way? I can tell, ya ... YOU WIN! At least Tara and Willow were given a chance ¬_¬

WHEDON FANS: And at least Joss acknowledges that he needs us!

RTD: SILENCE!! I don't care what the fans think. I don't make the show for the fans. I make it for me, myself and I only.

US: Didn't you bring Rose back, cheapening the plot and going against your 'final decision' ... just because she was 'popular'?

RTD: Shut up.

US: Haha. Your initials look like "retard".

Bwahaha Oh that's so made of win.

Speaking of God Joss Whedon. Funnily enough I still like him a lot.

The last line made me LOL! That was great and your logic was very, um... logical. :) This just makes RTD look like an idiot, which amuses me greatly considering what he did to Ianto.

(And yes, I know Ianto is only a fictional character, but never before have I had such devotion to a TV character. I liked all the characters on Buffy and I was sad when Tara was killed, but it was NOTHING compared to how devastated I was with Day 4 & 5 of COE.)

Also, this reminds me that I need a Joss Whedon icon...

That was so good. Not only did it say everything I wanted to say but it made me laugh really hard. Also I am a huge Whedon fan so... thanks! That was some good shit! w.w.w

*dies laughing* that was brilliant!! Mind if I print it out and give it to some friends? (I promise to put 'Written by a_silver_story on it)

After rewatching CoE, I refuse to accept the ending as canon. Yay for AU! :P

Sure, as long as you credit me and not STEALSIES MY WORK YOU HEATHEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

haha. I'm laughing at my own attempt at writing down a 'Gollum' voice. Is that normal?

It needed to be said. Unfortunately, I think RTD must be the most frustrating person on the planet to have an argument with. He might look like he's paying attention, but in reality he has his fingers in his ears and he's dancing around singing, "La, la, la! I'm not listening!"

Really tired of that guy's attitude!

I dont' know why, but when I pictured RTD dancing around and singing "la, la, la! I'm not listening!" ... he was also wearing a tea cosy ...

... mysterious or what??? :S

"The final two episodes were the most depressing two hours of television since Princess Diana's funeral."

Yes! That's exactly the way I feel about it. *hugs silver*

you are very good.

So true. Clearly, he's drawing a red herring across the path here. Does he think we are stupid or what? *rolls eyes*

Your initials look like "retard".

*LOL* And may I just say, I don't think it's a coincidence...
